The next series of articles will be about my dining adventures in Whistler, BC mid April. They could've been posted sooner, but I was up there on a working vacation with very little time to enjoy myself. I was a member of Parker Productions and we had 72 hours to make a short film to submit to the Telus World's Ski and Snowboard Festival. And immediately after that weekend of fun, I had to prepare for final exams.
With that now out of the way, here begins my reflections of fine dining in a resort town for the rich and famous--and my quest for cheap food on the go.
COW'S – Whistler

Sadly, Big Moo Ice Cream up in Sidney hasn't changed names. They've been closed for more than a year now and while up in Whistler, I've found another operation by the name of Cow. They can easily be the new star in Victoria should they set up shop in my home town. I'll be looking forward to that day but until it happens, I thought I'd do some online research. Cows has been around since 1983. It has only been in recent years that they've managed to spread their herd to the mountains of British Columbia.
This company sells premium ice cream and I had to fork $4.95 to get a two scoop cone of their Moo Crunch. It's a very rich chocolate base with little peanut butter cups and their patented mix of nuts tossed in. I didn't think this particularly strong flavour was all that great. It wasn't crunchy enough. I'm a tough person to satisfy now that I'm doing double duty since James wasn't with me in my trip to Whistler, B.C. Next time I'm here, I'm going to have to try their milkshake ($5.95)
The one thing I did find enjoyable was the creamy texture of the base product–the ice cream itself. I could taste the stronger buttermilk content in their ice cream. I definitely give this company a thumbs up in that regard, but as for all the merchandise I saw ... it's tough to resist wanting to buy the MooTube T-shirt.
Fortunately my days of wearing decorative t-shirts are long gone (just like my waist-line) if I keep this hunt for junk food up.
